I purchased this in accordance with all the great evaluates. There are a couple of explanation why I will now not provide this 5 celebritys and I was wavering between 3 and 4 stars.
It's not as straightforward as plug it in, add water and you might have got ice in 20 minutes. The instructions say to scrub it totally with the support of operating it thru it can be smoothing cycle with 1:1 ratio of water and white vinegar or lemon juice, then drain it. Add smooth water and do the same once more. Next, run it through it can be first cycle and discard the primary batch of ice. The ice had a horrible chemical odor and taste!! There had been extra instructions if this must happen. Again, I delivered one cup of lemon juice (vinegar is tricky to eliminate the scent)to a complete tank of water and run it thru a few cycles of ice. I had to throw away 4 or 5 baskets of ice. I then rinsed it with clear water in the easying cycle. Finally, the ice did not have any smell!
Pros: *Quick at making ice.
*Three dimension choices of dices.
*Makes large portions.
Cons: *Ice is watery regardless of what size cube I make.
*If you let the ice sit down within the ice maker too long, it begins to soften.
*You need to transfer it to the freezer quick but even then, because
the ice is watery it sticks together.
*Prep work
*Large and heavy.

The ice machine began slowing down and I felt a tremendous water mist coming out of the realm the place the ice used to be being made. The ice within the basket used to be melting after a couple of hours.

Now it would not work in any respect. I known as the manufacturer and so they emailed me steps on check the motor to the water tray/scooper. Upon inspection, the equipment mechanism from the motor that keep a watch ons the water tray was once utterly rusted, due to this fact unable to have interaction and switch. I was advised that any sections that had been despatched to me were no charge but in fact I would have to restore it myself. If the unit needs to be again, I would have to pay for shipping. This is a heavy piece of apparatus and can price quite a bit to ship again. What a disappointment for having this expensive ice maker for most effective six months.
UPDATE July 22, 2011:
I've replaced the motor, (my husband was once impressed at my technical skills... lol), and reshaped the output splash bar with needle nostril pliers, and at last all is working neatly. The bent splash bar was the cause of the motor rusting because the water was once spraying onto the motor gears. It's unfortunate that I was once accountable for restoreing the desktop and I really feel the producer didn't stand by means of their product. They saw that it was once faulty, based on my pictures, and individually they must have changed it at no cost to me. In the least, Sunpentown should have paid for me to ship it again and have it mounted by way of them.

I purchased one of the mostse three years ago when my outdated ice maker died. This computing device has been working just about continuous for three yrs and functions just find it irresistible is marketed. It makes ice fast! And the ice is superb for making frozen drinks. Now I'm shopping for one for my buddy. It can not keep up when you are having a birthday celebration, but if you happen to plan ahead, it will meet all of your ice needs. I highly suggest this item.
